Old Dominion 70, LSU 61: Trey Freeman scored a season-high 25 points to lift the Monarchs to an upset victory over the Tigers in the first round of the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands.

Old Dominion (3-0) plays Illinois State in Sunday's semifinals. Freeman, a transfer from Campbell, rebounded from a 3-of-10 shooting game against Richmond by hitting 9-of-18 shots and both of his 3-point tries.

The Tigers, who fell behind by 10 points in the second half, were led by Jarell Martin with 17 points, while Keith Hornsby added 15 points. Martin also added 11 rebounds while Jordan Mickey blocked four shots.

Old Dominion led 50-40 with 11:29 remaining before LSU started chipping away at the lead with free throws. Tim Quarterman tied the game at 57 with a layup, but Freeman gave the Monarchs the lead for good with 4:11 left on a jump shot and LSU couldn’t get closer than six points in the final 36 seconds.

LSU went up 21-9 with 9:21 left in the first half on a jumper by Mickey but Freeman answered with a 3-pointer to jump start a 20-7 run. Freeman gave the Monarchs their first lead at 29-28 and after a jumper by the Tigers' Darcy Malone, Keenan Palmore made a layup and Freeman another jumper for a 33-30 halftime lead.
