Kansas State 70, No. 9 Kansas 63: Nigel Johnson had a career-high 20 points to lead the host Wildcats to an upset of the Big 12-leading Jayhawks.

Johnson hit 4-of-5 from the 3-point line and Nino Williams added 15 points and five rebounds for Kansas State (14-15, 7-9 Big 12). Thomas Gipson added 12 points and six rebounds for the Wildcats, who have beaten their rival in back-to-back home games for the first time since 1983.

Perry Ellis led Kansas (22-6, 11-4) with 24 points and nine rebounds and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 14 points and seven rebounds. The Jayhawks led by eight early in the second half but went 2-of-14 from the field during the final 10 minutes.

Ellis hit seven of his first eight shots - scoring Kansas' first nine points and half of the Jayhawks' first-half total - but Kansas State stayed close. The Wildcats finished the half with a 12-4 run - started by a pair of Johnson 3-pointers and ended by Williams' pair of free throws with 1.2 seconds left - for a 31-30 halftime lead.

Kansas opened the second half with an 11-2 run but Johnson helped the Wildcats rally, capping a 14-6 run with a 3-pointer and tying the game at 52 with another 3 with 10 minutes left. Gipson followed a pair of Kansas free throws with a bucket and two free throws with eight minutes left to put the Wildcats ahead for good and Williams had a jumper and three free throws in the final 1:10 to help seal the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: It was Kansas State's first halftime lead since a Jan. 24 win against Oklahoma State. ... Ellis has three straight games with a 15-point half. ... Kansas entered the game leading the Big 12 in 3-point shooting at 40.9 percent but hit 2-of-13.
