No. 9 Kansas 74, No. 16 Baylor 64: Freshman Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 18 points and Landen Lucas sparked the host Jayhawks in the second half to cap a season sweep of the Bears.

Oubre finished 4-of-6 from 3-point range and Lucas scored seven of his career high-tying nine points in the final 10 minutes for Kansas (21-4, 10-2 Big 12), which trailed by 13 points in the opening half. Perry Ellis added 18 points and Wayne Selden Jr. scored 15 points for the Jayhawks, who won for the seventh time in eight games.

Rico Gathers scored 18 points with eight rebounds for the Bears (18-7, 6-6), who scored 21 of the game’s first 29 points and were within two points with under five minutes left. Kenny Chery finished 5-of-10 from 3-point range, scoring 17 points.

Lucas scored five points while Brannen Greene’s 3-pointer with eight minutes remaining fueled a 10-0 burst that turned a four-point Kansas deficit into a 55-49 advantage. The Bears drew within 59-57 on two Royce O’Neale free throws with 4:18 remaining, but baskets by Lucas, Ellis and a 3-pointer by Oubre sparked a game-closing 15-7 spurt.

Baylor hit four of its first six 3-point attempts and used an 11-2 burst to build a 21-8 lead 7 ½ minutes in, but Oubre hit two 3-pointers during a 9-0 burst to draw Kansas within 33-27 at halftime. Oubre’s jumper in the lane gave the Jayhawks their first lead at 36-35 three minutes into the second half, but Chery’s fifth 3-pointer of the game put the Bears ahead 49-45 with 9:43 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas improved to 23-4 overall against Baylor and perfect in 12 contests at Allen Fieldhouse. … Baylor finished 8-of-23 from 3-point range, going 4-of-17 beyond the arc in the final 35 minutes. … The Jayhawks improved to 12-0 at home and extended their homecourt winning streak to 21 games.
