Georgia 62, Texas A&M 53: Kenny Gaines snapped out of a shooting slump with 15 points as the visiting Bulldogs won for the seventh time in nine games.

Gaines, who shot 7-of-34 from the field in his past three games, finished 6-of-12 and went 3-of-7 from 3-point range for Georgia (16-7, 7-4 SEC). Charles Mann added 14 points and Nemanja Djurisic scored 11 points for the Bulldogs, who went 12-of-16 from the free-throw line.

Alex Caruso finished with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists to pace Texas A&M (16-7, 7-4), which has lost two of three following a six-game winning streak. Danuel House added 14 points but the Aggies were undone by 13 turnovers.

The Aggies were down eight points with less than seven minutes to play, but Caruso’s 3-pointer from the right wing brought Texas A&M within 55-51 with 1:57 to go. Georgia forced a missed shot on the ensuing possession and Gaines drained a 3-pointer from the left corner with 42 seconds to go to extend Georgia’s lead to 58-51.

Georgia led by eight with less than three minutes left in the first half before House’s 3-pointer pulled Texas A&M within 34-31 at the break while another House 3-pointer three minutes into the second half evened the score at 36-36. Georgia took advantage of the Aggies going 1-of-9 from the field during an eight-minute stretch later in the half, using Taylor Echols’ 3-pointer and Cameron Forte’s layup to build a 51-43 advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Four days after tying a season high with 20 turnovers against Tennessee, the Bulldogs committed seven. … Texas A&M G/F Jalen Jones struggled with foul trouble, scoring six points, eight below his average. … Georgia G J.J. Frazier, who came in averaging 10.8 points, also was hindered by foul trouble and finished with five points.
