No. 25 Arkansas 69, Tennessee 64: Bobby Portis had 17 points and eight rebounds to help the host Razorbacks to escape with a narrow win over the Volunteers.

Michael Qualls also had 17 points for Arkansas (16-4, 5-2 SEC), which avenged an earlier loss to Tennessee. Qualls added six rebounds and four assists, while Alandise Harris and Anton Beard each chipped in 10 points.

Josh Richardson paced the Volunteers with 17 points and six assists, while Robert Hubbs III had 15 points. Armani Moore scored 12 points and grabbed six boards for Tennessee (12-7, 4-3), which lost for the first time in four SEC road games.

Arkansas looked like it might run away with this one, scoring the game's first seven points, but the Volunteers responded with a 14-5 run to take their first lead with just under 13 minutes to go in the half. There were five lead changes before Tennessee went ahead with an 8-2 run midway through the half and didn't let it go, going into the break up two.

It was much of the same in the second half, with Arkansas went up by three with less than four minutes to play. A pair of Rashad Madden free throws upped the lead to five with 1:03 left, but Richardson hit a jumper with 52 seconds to go and after a steal, Hubbs III missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with five seconds to play, allowing Qualls to clinch the game with two more free throws.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arkansas G Rashad Madden had three assists, tying him for eighth in school history with Gary Ervin and Keith Wilson. … The Razorbacks came into the game ranked eighth in the country with 17.3 assists per game and recorded 19 on 24 made field goals in this one. … Tennessee starting F Derek Reese was shut out for the first time this season, not attempting a single shot in 19 minutes of playing time.
