Hartman scored seven early as Indiana led by as much as nine, but Layman made 5-of-7 from the field for 11 points as Maryland pulled within 38-35 at intermission. The Hoosiers scored 14 of the first 19 points in the second half – five by Ferrell – to push their lead to 52-40.

The Terrapins cut the deficit to eight before Ferrell and Robert Johnson drilled 3-pointers during an 8-2 burst, increasing Indiana’s advantage to 14 with a little over eight minutes to go. Blackmon’s 3-pointer with under five minutes left gave the Hoosiers an 80-61 lead and they cruised from there.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ferrell matched a career high for 3-pointers and missed only one of his attempts, and he also dished out five assists and did not commit a turnover. … The Hoosiers are 61-8 at their home court -- Assembly Hall -- since the 2011-12 campaign and stand 12-1 this season. … Indiana leads the all-time series 6-2, but Maryland beat the Hoosiers 64-52 in the NCAA Tournament Championship Game in 2002.
