Alabama 69, Stillman 49: Freshman Justin Coleman scored a career-high 14 points and the host Crimson Tide scored the game’s first eight points en route to a comfortable victory over the Division II Tigers.

Leading scorer Levi Randolph scored all 13 of his points in the second half for Alabama (7-3), which shook off a heartbreaking loss Tuesday at No. 11 Wichita State despite not playing key scorers Ricky Tarrant and Rodney Cooper. Shannon Hale added 13 points with eight rebounds, Riley Norris had 13 points and seven boards, and Jimmie Taylor added 12 points with nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

Maurice Crenshaw hit three 3-pointers in scoring 13 points to lead the Tigers (4-4). Stillman shot 32.8 percent from the field and committed 20 turnovers.

Norris – who set career highs in scoring and rebounding – scored the game’s first five points and Coleman’s three-point play staked Alabama to an 8-0 advantage a little more than four minutes into the contest. Norris’ jumper with six minutes left capped a 10-0 spurt to increase the advantage to 27-10 before the Tigers rallied within 34-21 at halftime.

Crenshaw’s 3-pointer about 4 1/2 minutes into the second half made it 41-28 before the Crimson Tide limited the Tigers to one field goal over the next five minutes. Hale capped a 12-5 burst with back-to-back buckets, extending Alabama’s lead to 53-33 with 10:25 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Coleman, Norris and Devin Mitchell started for Alabama, the first time three freshmen have started a game for the Crimson Tide since Feb. 11, 2012. … Coleman hit a pair of first-half 3-pointers in scoring 10 points by intermission. … The Crimson Tide were outrebounded 25-21 in the opening half but forced 12 turnovers.
