Oklahoma State 74, Prairie View A&M 52: Phil Forte had 17 points to lead a balanced attack as the host Cowboys routed the Panthers.

Le'Bryan Nash added 15 points and seven rebounds for Oklahoma State (2-0), which also got 12 points from Jeffrey Carroll. Anthony Allen grabbed 14 boards to go with his six points, as the Cowboys outrebounded the Panthers, 50-41.

Montrael Scott led the way for Prairie View A&M (0-2) with 16 points, while Tre Hagood had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. The Panthers hit only 3-of-16 from 3-point range and 9-of-19 from the free-throw line.

The game was tight throughout the first half, with neither team able to pull ahead for long. Oklahoma State used an 8-0 run to take an 18-10 lead midway through the half, but the Panthers responded with an 8-1 streak and were still within six at the break.

The Cowboys came out firing in the second half, though, pushing the lead to 19 with just over 14 minutes to play, as Nash and Carroll each scored six points in the first six minutes. Prairie View A&M used a 9-1 run to cut the deficit to 14 with just under nine minutes to go, but Oklahoma State wouldn't allow the visitors to get any closer, cruising to the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Oklahoma State shot nearly twice as many 3-pointers as its opponent (29) but hit just six of them. … The Cowboys improved to 23-0 against SWAC opponents. … After racking up 19 assists on 28 field goals in its opener, Oklahoma State had just seven on 21 field goals against Prairie View A&M.
