Miami (Fla.) 48, Cal State Fullerton 46: James Kelly collected 10 points and seven rebounds as the Hurricanes withstood a furious late rally by the host Titans in the consolation round of the Wooden Legacy.

Davon Reed scored nine points and Rion Brown added nine points and a game-high eight rebounds for Miami (4-3), which will face Arizona State in Sunday’s consolation final. The Hurricanes snapped a two-game skid by holding the Titans to a season-low 35.4 percent from the field.

Michael Williams led Cal State Fullerton (2-5) with 15 points and Sheldon Blackwell added 13. The Titans trailed by as many as 17 with 8:36 remaining before using a 17-2 run to pull within 43-40 with just under four minutes to play.

Cal State Fullerton cut the deficit to 48-46 and had the ball with seven seconds left, but Williams misfired from 3-point range and Chris Collins missed a put-back at the buzzer. The Titans, who lost their fourth straight, shot 4-of-18 from beyond the arc and missed five of its 13 attempts from the foul line.

Miami, which fell 71-63 in overtime to George Washington in Thursday’s opening round, escaped against the Titans despite shooting 3-for-19 from 3-point range. The Hurricanes outrebounded the Titans 20-11 in the first half and led 23-17 at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Titans missed 17 of its 24 shots in the first half, when they were held to a season-low point total. … Miami improved to 42-7 when leading at halftime under coach Jim Larranaga. … Blackwell had six assists for Cal State Fullerton, which will play in Sunday’s consolation bracket.
