Wake Forest 77, USC 63: Coron Williams scored 15 points as the Demon Deacons cruised past the Trojans in a consolation game at the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.

Tyler Cavanaugh had 11 points for Wake Forest (6-1), which is off to its best start since winning 16 in a row to begin the 2008-09 season. Madison Jones and Devin Thomas each added 10 points for the Demon Deacons, who will square off against Tennessee in the fifth-place game on Saturday.

Byron Wesley tallied 12 points – seven below his season average – and Pe'Shon Howard totaled 10 points for USC (4-3), which will meet Xavier in Saturday’s seventh-place game. Roschon Prince added 10 points - all in the second half - for the Trojans.

After trading blows with USC throughout the first six minutes, Wake Forest held the Trojans without a field goal for over seven minutes. The Demon Deacons took advantage and blew the game open as Andre Washington bookended a 23-6 surge with a pair of baskets that turned a one-point deficit into 34-18 lead.

The onslaught continued after the break as the Demon Deacons expanded the margin to as much as 24 points on two occasions. USC, which missed 12 of its 13 3-point attempts in the first half, finished the game shooting 20 percent beyond the arc – the third time it has shot that poorly from long range.

GAME NOTEBOOK: This game marked only the second all-time meeting between the schools and first since 1954. … USC is a combined 13-for-62 beyond the arc in its three losses. … Wake Forest, which recorded 22 assists on its 30 field goals, will face Tennessee for the first time since the 1969-70 campaign.
