LSU 82, Saint Joseph’s 65: Andre Stringer scored 18 points and freshman Jarell Martin finished with a season-high 15 as the Tigers won a quarterfinal game at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Fla.

Jordan Mickey added 14 points and 10 rebounds for LSU, which will play No. 19 Memphis in Friday’s semifinals. Johnny O’Bryant III contributed 11 points and eight rebounds while Anthony Hickey finished with nine points for the Tigers (4-1).

Ronald Roberts Jr. had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead St. Joseph’s, which was playing its first game in 11 days. Halil Kanacevic was the only other player in double figures for the Hawks (2-2), finishing with 12.

Seven players had five points or more in the first half for LSU as it built a 46-30 lead. Roberts tried to keep St. Joseph’s in the game by scoring 14 first-half points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field, but the rest of the Hawks shot 6-for-21.

LSU went nearly six minutes without scoring early in the second half, allowing Saint Joseph’s to quietly string together 10 points to cut the deficit to 11. The Tigers finally put the comeback to rest by going on an 11-2 burst to go back up by 19 with about eight minutes left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: LSU, which came in shooting 28.4 percent from 3-point range, was 8-of-13 in the first half before finishing 10-for-22. … Mickey had 19 blocked shots through his first four games and Hickey recorded 15 steals in that span, but Mickey had no blocks and Hickey had only one steal Thursday. … LSU reserve G Malik Morgan returned after missing the previous game following a blow to the head and finished with five points and four rebounds.
