Javan Felix made 7-of-9 from 3-point range en route to 21 points as the Longhorns held off a late rally from the visiting Bears.

Cameron Ridley added 20 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks for Texas (21-7, 10-5 Big 12) and Jonathan Holmes had 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Isaiah Taylor had 13 points and seven assists and hit a pair of late free throws to seal the win.

Kenny Chery led Baylor (18-10, 6-9) with a career-high 27 points and hit 5-of-7 3-pointers. Cory Jefferson recorded his fourth straight double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Bears.

Taylor had three baskets during an 18-3 Texas run - during which Baylor went nearly eight minutes without a field goal - to build a 33-16 lead with just over four minutes left in the first half. Chery and Brady Heslip hit 3-pointers during an 11-2 second-half burst to get Baylor within four and Chery and Royce O'Neale hit back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the lead to 61-59 with just under nine minutes left.

Holmes scored three straight baskets to help Texas push the lead back to nine but Baylor answered with a 9-1 run - capped by two Jefferson putbacks - to get within 70-69 with 1:50 left. Texas got two offensive rebounds before Taylor's layup extended the lead to three and the freshman followed a Ridley block with two free throws with 23 seconds left to finish the scoring.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jefferson became the 28th player in Baylor history - and 10th under coach Scott Drew - to reach 1,000 career points. ... Felix (5-of-5) tied current NBA players Avery Bradley and Kevin Durant for the Texas record for the most 3-pointers made in a half without a miss. ... Baylor falls to 20-4 against in-state opponents since the start of the 2011-12 season, with three of the losses to Texas.
