No. 8 Kansas 85, No. 17 Texas 54: Andrew Wiggins scored 21 points and Joel Embiid contributed 13 points, seven rebounds and six blocked shots as the host Jayhawks annihilated the Longhorns in Big 12 play.

Frank Mason scored 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting off the bench as first-place Kansas (21-6, 12-2) took a three-game lead over Texas in the conference race. Wayne Selden Jr. had eight points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Jayhawks, who avenged an 81-69 road loss to the Longhorns on Feb. 1.

Jonathan Holmes scored 17 points for Texas (20-7, 9-5), which has lost three of its last five games. Cameron Ridley added 11 for the Longhorns, who shot 34.4 percent from the field and made just 8-of-19 free throws.

The score was tied at 10 6 1/2 minutes into the game before Wiggins scored 12 points during an 18-0 run as Kansas opened up a 28-10 advantage. The Jayhawks shot 63 percent in the half and held the Longhorns to 20.7 percent while sailing to a 46-18 lead at the break.

The lead went over 30 for the first time when Perry Ellis scored on a three-point play to make it 59-28 with 13:01 remaining. Texas never made a push and recorded its lowest point total of the season while losing to Kansas for the ninth time in the last 11 meetings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wiggins had just seven points on 2-of-12 shooting when Kansas lost to Texas three weeks ago. … Longhorns G Isaiah Taylor missed his first 11 field-goal attempts and finished with five points on 1-of-14 shooting. … Embiid has 68 blocked shots, surpassing the school freshman single-season mark set by Eric Chenowith (62 in 1997-98).
