Marquette 96, DePaul 94 (OT): Davante Gardner scored seven of his team-high 22 points in overtime to lead the visiting Golden Eagles to their fourth win in five games.

Jamil Wilson finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, Todd Mayo scored 19 points and Chris Otule added 12 to lead Marquette (16-11, 8-6 Big East). The Golden Eagles finished 28-of-39 from the free-throw line and connected on eight in a row in overtime.

Brandon Young scored 29 points and had six assists while freshman guard Billy Garrett Jr. scored 26 points to lead DePaul (10-18, 2-13), which lost its 10th straight game. The Blue Demons lost despite connecting of 14-of-29 3-pointers, including one by Garrett with 2.6 seconds left in regulation that forced overtime.

Marquette appeared to take control of the game with a 14-2 run to begin the second half to extend its lead to 58-43, but the Blue Demons answered with a 25-10 burst, eventually setting the stage for Garrett's dramatic long trey that sent the game into overtime. Gardner's three-point play with 1:44 left in the overtime triggered a 7-0 run by the Golden Eagles, who still needed to withstand a potential game-winning 3-pointer from midcourt by Durrell McDonald at the buzzer that didn't draw iron.

DePaul missed its first 10 shots to start the game but Marquette failed to take advantage, building just an 8-1 lead before Garrett nailed a 3-pointer to snap the drought. Young's layup gave the Blue Demons the lead a few minutes later before the Golden Eagles, behind consecutive 3-pointers by Jake Thomas, pulled out to a 44-41 halftime lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: DePaul had won 13 straight games, including six this season, when scoring at least 80 points. ... Marquette finished with a 48-26 edge in points in the paint. ... The game featured 12 ties and 10 lead changes.
