North Carolina State 56, Miami 55: T.J. Warren scored 19 of his 27 points in the second half as the visiting Wolfpack held on to win for the fourth time in five games.

Ralston Turner added 17 points – 16 in the first half – and hit four 3-pointers for North Carolina State (15-8, 5-5 ACC), which saw a nine-point lead evaporate in the final minutes. The Wolfpack shot 0-for-8 from 3-point range in the second half, but made 9-of-12 free throws in the final three minutes.

Rion Brown scored 20 points to lead the Hurricanes (11-12, 2-8), who dropped to 1-5 in their past six contests. Manu Lecomte added 13 points and Garrius Adams added 10, but Raphael Akpejiori missed a game-tying free throw with 3.5 seconds remaining.

Warren scored the final eight points of a 10-4 run, his dunk with 9:32 to go pushing the Wolfpack’s advantage to 45-36. Miami battled back with a 15-6 spurt, a pair of Brown free throws with 1:37 left to tie the score at 51.

Warren’s two free throws with 41.2 seconds left pushed the N.C. State lead to 55-52, but Lecomte’s layup brought Miami within 55-54 with 10.3 seconds remaining. Turner scored his first point of the second half, hitting one-of-two free throws with 9.7 seconds to play, Akpejiori missed the second of two free throws with 3.5 seconds to go and the Wolfpack corralled the rebound.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Warren, the ACC’s leading scorer at 22.4 points coming in, posted his 18th 20-plus game and his sixth in a row. … The Hurricanes dropped to 3-8 in games decided by five points or less. … Warren finished 8-for-14 from the field and Turner shot 6-for-13; the rest of the Wolfpack combined to go 3-for-18.
