No. 9 Villanova 90, Temple 74:
James Bell scored 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting from 3-point range as the visiting Wildcats pulled away in the second half for a nonconference victory over the Owls.

JayVaughn Pinkston added 13 points and Darrun Hilliard II chipped in 12 for Villanova (19-2), which swept its Big 5 rivals in the season series between the Philadelphia-area schools. After defeating Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph's and La Salle back in December, the Wildcats disposed of the Owls thanks to a 54-point second half and 12-of-29 3-point shooting overall.

Daniel Ochefu contributed 11 points and Dylan Ennis notched 10 for Villanova, while Will Cummings scored a game-high 24 points for Temple (6-14). Quenton DeCosey added 18 points and Anthony Lee had 12 and 10 rebounds for the Owls.

The Wildcats turned a five-point halftime advantage into a 12-point bulge thanks to a free throw by Hilliard and 3-pointers by Hilliard and Bell in the opening 1 1/2 minutes of the second half. Shortly thereafter, Villanova put away the game with a 14-0 run as Hilliard hit another 3 and Pinkston added a jumper and a three-point play during the decisive surge.

Villanova led 25-15 with about five minutes to go in the first half before Temple scored 10 straight points to knot the game at 25. The teams were neck and neck over the next several minutes until Ryan Arcidiacono hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final minute to send the Wildcats into the break with a 36-31 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cummings scored 13 first-half points on 5-of-8 shooting while his teammates were 5-of-26 in the opening period. ... Temple had only two first-half turnovers - both by Dalton Pepper - and finished with only five turnovers. ... Villanova, which has won eight of nine, had 20 assists and only nine turnovers.
