St. John's 74, Marquette 59: D'Angelo Harrison broke out of a lengthy slump with 27 points as the host Red Storm trounced the Golden Eagles.

Harrison knocked down six of the Red Storm's eight 3-pointers en route to his first 20-point performance in six games for St. John's (13-9, 3-6 Big East). JaKarr Sampson added 10 points while Sir'Dominic Pointer added eight off the bench.

Derrick Wilson had 14 points to lead Marquette (12-10, 4-5), which shot a paltry 34.8 percent from the floor. Jake Thomas and Deonte Burton added 11 points apiece in defeat.

St. John's broke open a close game near the midway point of the opening half, getting back-to-back Harrison 3-pointers and a pair of Pointer dunks to take a 25-13 lead. A brief Marquette spurt closed the gap to seven, but Chris Obekpa responded with a three-point play and God'sgift Achiuwa closed the half with an emphatic jam to send the Red Storm into the intermission with a 33-20 advantage.

Burton's layup with 15:44 left brought the Golden Eagles to within 10, but that was as close as they would get. Harrison buried three more 3-pointers 2:29 apart - the third coming as part of a four-point play - and St. John's cruised from there.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Marquette, which entered the day with the worst 3-point percentage in the conference (29.7), shot just 3-for-14 from beyond the arc. ... The Red Storm had 12 blocks to increase their Big East-leading tally to 184. ... Golden Eagles G Todd Mayo had a tough day, missing his only shot attempt while committing four of Marquette's 16 turnovers.
