Roberto Nelson scored all four of his team’s points in overtime and finished with a game-high 24 as the Beavers edged the visiting Trojans.

Angus Brandt had 14 points and Devon Collier added 13 for Oregon State (12-8, 4-4 Pac-12), which escaped with the win after the Trojans’ Pe'Shon Howard missed the second of two foul shots with one second left in overtime. Nelson, the league’s leading scorer, shot 3-for-6 from 3-point range and added eight rebounds.

Byron Wesley led USC (10-11, 1-7) with 23 points and Howard added 16 on 4-of-11 shooting. Center Omar Oraby finished with 13 points and eight rebounds before fouling out with just under nine minutes remaining and the Trojans leading by six.

The Trojans held a 39-36 advantage at the break and pulled ahead 72-68 on Wesley’s 3-pointer with 3:05 remaining. Collier converted one of two foul shots before Hallice Cooke’s 3-pointer tied the game at 72 with 53 seconds to play in regulation.

Both teams struggled offensively in overtime, with USC shooting 1-for-7 from the field. Howard tied the game with 1:02 left before Nelson scored on a driving layup with 25 seconds remaining to help Oregon State post its fifth straight home victory over the Trojans.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cooke scored 11 points for the Beavers, who recorded a season-high 19 offensive rebounds. … Nelson has scored 20-plus points in six consecutive games for Oregon State, which is .500 or better through eight Pac-12 games for the first time since 1999. … The Beavers won despite shooting 20-for-35 from the foul line, while USC missed just two of its 21 attempts from the line.
