Virginia 68, Notre Dame 53: Malcolm Brogdon had a game-high 16 points to go along with seven rebounds, six assists and a career-high five steals to lead the visiting Cavaliers to their fourth straight ACC win.

Mike Tobey finished with 14 points and Joe Harris added nine points and three steals for Virginia (16-5, 7-1), which finished with 14 steals and forced a season-high 20 turnovers. The 7-1 record is the best start in ACC play since 1982-83 for the Cavaliers.

Freshman guard Demetrius Jackson and forward Zach Auguste each scored 10 points to lead Notre Dame (11-10, 2-6). The Fighting Irish, who lost all-ACC guard and leading scorer Jerian Grant for the season due to an undisclosed academic issue on Dec. 22, have lost six of their last seven games.

The game looked like it would be a blowout at the start as the hot-shooting Cavaliers carved up Notre Dame's 2-3 zone, connecting on 15 of their first 19 field goal tries while building a 34-15 lead in the first 16 minutes. But the Fighting Irish got back in it with a 9-0 run to end the half highlighted by a 3-pointer by Jackson.

Virginia quickly extended its lead to 19 points by starting the second half with its own 9-0 run capped by a Brogdon layup after a London Perrrantes steal. The Fighting Irish never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Notre Dame, which came into the game ranked third in the ACC in turnovers (10.1), had 10 in the first 10 minutes and 13 in the first half. ... Irish G Eric Atkins, who came into the contest averaging 14.2 points and having scored in double figures in nine straight games, didn't attempt a shot until 3:30 remained in the first half and finished with six points. ... Brogdon, a sophomore who missed the entire 2012-13 season with a foot injury, has scored in double figures in all eight conference games for the Cavaliers.
