Chasson Randle scored seven of his team-high 17 points in overtime as the visiting Cardinal escaped with the victory.

Josh Huestis added 16 points and Dwight Powell scored 14 for Stanford (13-6, 4-3 Pac-12). John Gage matched his season high with 12 points off the bench while contributing four steals and Anthony Brown finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Cardinal.

Byron Wesley scored 18 points to lead the Trojans (10-10, 1-6). J.T. Terrell added 13 points and eight rebounds and Pe’Shon Howard finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists for USC.

The Cardinal scored the first four points of overtime before Wesley’s 3-pointer drew USC back within a point. Brown then sank a jumper and Gage buried a 3-pointer to push the lead back to 70-64 and the Trojans weren’t able to get it back to a one-possession game.

With the Trojans trailing by five points in the final minute of regulation, Howard sank a 3-pointer with 34 seconds left and Brown then lost his dribble out of bounds for a turnover. Wesley was fouled on a drive, sank both free throws with 22 seconds left to tie the score at 61 and Stanford was unable to convert on the other end.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Powell finished with six rebounds to move past Tim Dose (1961-64) and into eighth place on the career rebounding list at Stanford with 755. … Gage was the only bench player to score for Stanford, which came in receiving just 14.5 percent of its offense from its reserves. … . Randle picked up two fouls in the first 5:10 of the game and fellow starters Huestis, Brown and Stefan Nastic also received two fouls well before the end of the opening half.
