Seton Hall 86, DePaul 69: Fuquan Edwin scored 22 of his 30 points in the first half as the host Pirates rolled past the shorthanded Blue Demons.

Edwin made 9-of-11 shots in the opening 20 minutes and finished with three of his team's eight 3-pointers. Patrik Auda and Gene Teague chipped in nine points apiece for Seton Hall (12-8, 3-4 Big East), which shot 56.6 percent.

DePaul (10-11, 2-6), which was already without injured guard Charles McKinney, suspended leading scorer Cleveland Melvin before the game for violating a team rule while starting point guard Billy Garrett Jr. sat due to an illness. Brandon Young led the way with 23 points.

Without three of their leaders, the Blue Demons offered little resistance as Edwin put together a pair of three-point plays in a 12-2 run late in the first half that put Seton Hall ahead 34-19. The Pirates took a 20-point lead into the break and Edwin picked up where he left off with a 3-pointer in the first minute of the second half.

A three-point play by Tommy Hamilton IV about nine minutes into the second half pulled DePaul within 16 points. Auda hit pair of free throws and converted a turnover by Young into a dunk that pushed the lead back to 20 and Seton Hall led by at least 17 the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: DePaul G R.J. Curington, who had not recorded a point since Nov. 25, scored 10 of his career-high 15 points in the first half. ... Seton Hall G Sterling Gibbs had seven rebounds, six points and five assists. ... The Pirates own a 10-3 series advantage.
