Vanderbilt 66, Texas A&M 55: James Siakam scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the visiting Commodores ended a two-game losing streak.

Kyle Fuller sank three 3-pointers and scored 19 points for Vanderbilt (10-8, 2-4 SEC). Luke Kornet added nine points off the bench, all in the first half, for the Commodores in their first-ever trip to College Station, Texas.

Kourtney Roberson had 14 points and 10 rebounds but was the only player in double figures in both categories for Texas A&M (12-7, 3-3). Jordan Green and Shawn Smith added nine points apiece for the Aggies.

Vanderbilt scored the first five points of the game and Texas A&M the next nine before the game settled into a back-and-forth match for most of the first half. The Commodores eventually took a 27-25 lead into intermission thanks to three 3-pointers from Kornet.

Fuller’s 3-pointer to start the second half opened up another five-point lead for Vanderbilt and the Commodores took their first double-digit lead on Siakam’s layup with about 11 1/2 minutes remaining. The Commodores extended the lead to 12 just past the midway point of the second half and the Aggies managed to cut the deficit back to four twice before Rod Odom’s 3-pointer with 2:48 left pushed the lead back to 10.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Odom came in averaging 14.5 points and shooting 44.7 from 3-point range but he finished with five points on 1-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc. … Texas A&M G Alex Caruso came in leading the SEC in assists (5.1) but he finished with none. … Jamal Jones came in as the only Texas A&M player averaging double figures in scoring (12.1) and he finished with seven points.
