North Carolina State 65, Maryland 56:
Ralston Turner matched a career high with 23 points as the Wolfpack prevailed over the visiting Terrapins despite playing without the ACC’s leading scorer T.J. Warren.

Warren, who entered the game averaging 22.2 points, was a game-time scratch because of an ankle injury. Instead, the Wolfpack (12-7, 2-4) leaned on Turner and Desmond Lee, who scored 14 points, and Anthony Barber, who added 13 points and four assists.

Dez Wells tied for a team-high with 10 points in his return to his hometown of Raleigh for Maryland (11-8, 3-3). Charles Mitchell racked up a career--best 18 rebounds and Evan Smotrycz also scored 10 points for the Terrapins.

North Carolina State jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead, but the Terrapins responded by outscoring the Wolfpack 29-13 in the remainder of the frame to take a 29-20 halftime lead. North Carolina State missed 12 straight field goals at one point, and went to the locker room shooting 22.2 percent from the field.

The Wolfpack rebounded after the break, using a 10-2 run to grab a lead with less than nine minutes to go that they would not relinquish. The closest Maryland got was 54-53 with a little over five minutes to play, but Turner scored eight of the game’s next ten points to ice the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: This game was the last ACC meeting between the two squads. … The Terrapins won the rebounding battle 50-41. … F Kyle Washington had a team-high 10 rebounds for North Carolina State.
