Virginia 76, North Carolina 61: Malcolm Brogdon and Joe Harris scored 16 points apiece as the host Cavaliers knocked off the Tar Heels in ACC play.

Justin Anderson tallied 13 points as Virginia (14-5) stands 5-1 in ACC competition for the first time since the 1994-95 campaign. Akil Mitchell collected 11 rebounds and London Perrantes recorded nine assists as the Cavaliers further extended the struggles of North Carolina.

Kennedy Meeks matched a career high with 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace North Carolina (11-7, 1-4). James Michael McAdoo scored 11 points and Leslie McDonald added 10 for the Tar Heels, who were just 5-of-12 from the free-throw line while dropping to 0-3 in ACC road games.

North Carolina was within 12 with less than 12 minutes to play before Anderson was fouled and hit three free throws to short-circuit any sustained run. A 10-0 burst later in the half allowed the Cavaliers to boost the lead to 23 with 2:13 left.

The Tar Heels led 27-26 with less than six minutes left in the first half before Virginia closed with a 12-2 surge for a 38-29 halftime lead. The Cavaliers started the second half by scoring 10 of the first 14 points to open up a 15-point advantage with 17:10 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Virginia has won 12 consecutive home conference games. … McAdoo (1,007) became the 69th player in North Carolina history to reach 1,000 career points. … Harris made three 3-pointers to raise his career count to 224, moving past Sean Singletary (222 from 2004-08) for third-most in Cavaliers history.
