No. 11 San Diego State 63, UNLV 52: Xavier Thames scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the host Aztecs survived a sluggish affair for their 15th consecutive win.

Josh Davis recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds for San Diego State (16-1, 5-0 Mountain West), which remained the lone unbeaten in league play. The Aztecs shot just 33.9 percent and hit only two 3-pointers but won the battle of the boards 49-39 and limited the Runnin' Rebels (11-7, 2-3) to a 30 percent mark from the floor.

UNLV leading scorer Bryce Dejean-Jones paced his team with 15 points but shot just 7-for-25 and missed all seven of his long-range attempts. Deville Smith added 13 points on 5-of-19 shooting for the Rebels, who were 2-for-18 from 3-point range.

UNLV was limited to one basket in the first seven-plus minutes as the hosts opened an early 9-2 advantage and never trailed. The advantage grew to 22-9 on a jumper by Thames late in the half and settled at 34-20 at the break when Thames hit his only 3-pointer in the final minute.

The visitors opened the second half on a 10-2 run before Thames hit a pair of foul shots and then fed Winston Shepard for a layup to make it a 10-point game with 16 minutes left. Smith's layup inside of six minutes pulled the Rebels within 50-45, but Davis had three points and J.J. O'Brien had a dunk in a quick 6-2 burst and the Aztecs were never threatened again.
