St. John’s 69, Darmouth 55: Phil Greene IV scored 16 points, hitting 4-of-5 from 3-point range, as the host Red Storm snapped a five-game losing streak.

St. John’s (10-8) beat Dartmouth for the ninth straight time behind Greene and a big defensive effort from senior forward Orlando Sanchez, who had four blocks and two steals to go with eight points and 10 rebounds. JaKarr Sampson added 13 points on 6-for-12 shooting as he dominated inside.

Dartmouth (7-8) lost its fourth straight by shooting 34.5 percent, a steep drop from its Ivy League-leading 47.6 percent average. John Golden led the Big Green with 13 points, but none of his teammates reached double figures.

Dartmouth trailed only 38-34 at the break after making 6-of-8 3-pointers, including one by Alex Mitola at the halftime buzzer. But the Red Storm played ferocious defense coming out of the locker room, sparking a 7-0 run and a double-digit lead.

St. John's blocked 11 shots and scored 22 points off 15 Dartmouth turnovers. The Red Storm made 8-of-16 from beyond the arc and outscored the Big Green 17-6 from the foul line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: St. John’s finished 10-3 in non-conference play, its best non-conference mark since going 10-2 in 2009-10. … The Red Storm complete a three-game homestand at Carnesecca Arena and go for their first Big East win when Seton Hall visits Thursday. … St. John's won for the first time since Dec. 28.
