Titus Rubles added 13 points to go with a game-high 12 boards for the Bearcats, and his 7-of-7 performance at the free-throw line softened the blow of the rest of the team shooting 8-of-16 from the stripe.

Cincinnati led by as many as 10 in the first half despite shooting only 33.3 percent before a late Temple rally trimmed the deficit to two. Pepper buried consecutive 3-pointers and Lee closed the opening 20 minutes with a dunk to send the Owls to the locker room down just 27-25.

Temple refused to go away after the break, tying the game at 35 on a 3-pointer from Mark Williams with just under 13 minutes to play and then capping an 8-0 run with a layup from Josh Brown to take a 47-45 lead with 7 1/2 minutes remaining. Cincinnati restored order quickly, taking command with a 16-3 run that featured a pair of 3-pointers from Kilpatrick to seal the win.
