Texas A&M 57, Tennessee 56: Antwan Space made a 3-pointer with 4.4 seconds left and the visiting Aggies rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to stun the Volunteers.

Jamal Jones scored a career-high 23 points, including five 3-pointers, and Alex Caruso added 12 points and eight assists to help Texas A&M (11-4, 2-0 SEC) win its third straight. The Aggies trailed after taking a 3-0 lead until Space (six points) silenced the crowd with his second 3-pointer.

Antonio Barton paced Tennessee (10-5, 1-1) with 12 points and Josh Richardson added 11. Leading scorer Jordan McRae, who entered averaging 18.9 points, was held to nine points on 2-of-8 shooting.

The Volunteers led 32-18 at the break after holding Texas A&M to six field goals, but the Aggies began their comeback when Jones hit back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the deficit to 34-24. Texas A&M, which shot 53.8 percent in the second half, used a 9-0 run to pull within 38-33 with a little more than 11 minutes remaining.

Caruso scored to cut the lead to 56-54 with 30 seconds left, and Jeronne Maymon missed two free throws to set up Space’s heroics. Maymon collected nine points and 15 rebounds for Tennessee, which beat the Aggies 93-85 in four overtimes last season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tennessee freshman G Robert Hubbs III, who averaged five points in 12 games, will have season-ending surgery on his left shoulder next week. … Tennessee fell to 26-3 under coach Cuonzo Martin when leading at halftime. … The Aggies missed nine of their 18 shots from the foul line, while Tennessee made 15-for-21.
