Oklahoma 88, Texas 85: Buddy Hield had 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and the visiting Sooners edged the Longhorns in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Tyler Neal and Isaiah Cousins scored 13 points apiece for Oklahoma (12-2, 1-0), which outrebounded Texas 39-28 and snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Longhorns in Austin. Jordan Woodard added 12 points and Ryan Spangler chipped in 11 points and five rebounds.

Javan Felix paced Texas (11-3, 0-1) with a career-high 28 points on 10-for-19 shooting. Damarcus Croaker and Jonathan Holmes added 15 apiece for the Longhorns, who were unable to force overtime when Croaker's long 3-pointer missed the mark with 15 seconds left.

Texas moved ahead 49-45 after opening the second half with a 10-2 run, and neither team was able to pull away. The Longhorns led 76-75 at the three-minute mark before missing four consecutive free throws, and Hield delivered a 3-pointer to put the Sooners ahead.

Oklahoma won despite a poor shooting game from leading scorer Cameron Clark, who missed eight of his nine shots and finished with eight points, well below his average of 18.5. Neal, Cousins and Frank Booker made three 3-pointers apiece for Oklahoma, which led 43-39 after shooting 10-for-16 from 3-point range in the first half and finished 13-for-28 from beyond the arc.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cousins was ejected with 2:20 remaining after being called for his second technical foul. … Cameron Ridley collected 14 points and eight rebounds for the Longhorns, who fell to 12-4 in conference openers under coach Rick Barnes. … Oklahoma G Je'lon Hornbeak returned after missing four games with a broken left foot and missed both his shots from the field.
