No. 2 Syracuse 49, Miami (Fla.) 44: C.J. Fair recorded 15 points and six rebounds as the Orange rallied to edge the visiting Hurricanes in their first-ever ACC game.

Tyler Ennis scored six of his 10 points over the final 3:20, including two free throws to seal it with 7.6 seconds left, as Syracuse (14-0, 1-0 ACC) finished the game on a 14-4 run. Ennis added seven assists and Trevor Cooney had 11 points for the Orange, who made 12-of-14 free throws.

Garrius Adams led the way with nine points for Miami (8-6, 0-2), which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end. James Kelly and Manu Lecomte each added eight points for the Hurricanes, who held Syracuse to 36.2 percent shooting and made 7-of-19 from 3-point range.

Lecomte scored five during a 10-2 burst and Miami held Syracuse without a field goal for almost nine minutes to start the second half for a six-point lead. The Miami lead was five before baskets by Rakeem Christmas, Jerami Grant and Fair gave Syracuse the lead for good at 41-40 with just over four minutes left in the game.

Fair scored eight points in the first half as the Orange led by as much as seven before settling for a 25-21 advantage at intermission. Miami stayed in it by making five 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes – two from Adams – but turned the ball over eight times.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Christmas led all rebounders with seven and added eight points for Syracuse. … Miami did not attempt a free throw until there was 8:42 left in the game and finished 3-of-4. … Orange starting F DaJuan Coleman, averaging 4.7 points, missed his second straight game with a left knee contusion.
