St. John's 65, Columbia 59: D'Angelo Harrison scored 15 points to lead the Red Storm over the Lions in the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival at Barclays Center to notch their third straight win.

Orlando Sanchez finished with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds and JaKarr Sampson added 11 points and three blocks for St. John's (9-3). The Red Storm have now won the last 13 meetings with the Lions in a series that dates back to 1916.

Grant Mullins scored a game-high 17 points to lead Columbia (7-6). Alex Rosenberg (13) and Luke Petrasek (12) also scored in double figures for the Lions, who lost despite connecting on 9-of-18 from 3-point range.

St. John's trailed just once in the first half, 5-4, after a 3-pointer by Petrasek and led by as many as nine points, 20-11, after a layup by Sampson. But Columbia rallied to tie it at 28-28 on a 3-pointer by Mullins before the Red Storm closed the half with a 9-2 run to take a 37-30 halftime lead.

The Red Storm extended its lead to 48-34 on a 3-pointer by Jamal Branch with 14:11 to go. The Lions then answered with a 17-2 run over the next seven minutes to take a 51-50 lead on a free throw by Rosenberg, but St. John then took control with a 9-0 run and Columbia never got closer than four points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: St. John's G Rysheed Jordan, the 2013-14 Big East Preseason Rookie of the Year, returned to action after missing a game to be with his ill mother in Philadelphia and finished with seven points. ... Branch's 3-pointer was his first since Jan. 12, 2013 versus Georgetown. ... St. John's improved to 2-1 in games played at Barclays Center this season.
