Virginia 57, Northern Iowa 43: Justin Anderson had a game-high 16 points to lead the host Cavaliers past the Panthers.

Joe Harris overcame a slow start in the first half to finish with 12 points and seven rebounds for Virginia (8-3), which avoided a three-game losing streak. London Perrantes scored nine points off the bench and Darion Atkins had eight points, five rebounds and a career-high five blocks.

Seth Tuttle picked up his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds while Wes Washpun added nine points and five rebounds for Northern Iowa (5-6). Shooting struggles plagued the Panthers, who went 19-of-60 overall and 2-of-19 from 3-point range.

The Cavaliers were clearly rusty following a two-week layoff as the team was held to 8-of-27 shooting in the first half, but the Panthers were just as bad at 7-of-27. Northern Iowa kept it close despite its shooting woes and a 7-2 spurt before the break kept Virginia's lead at five.

Virginia extended its lead to double digits early in the second half and played lockdown defense to rattle the Panthers. Northern Iowa failed to cut the lead to single digits and the Cavaliers scored at will thanks to good ball movement off 14 assists.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Northern Iowa's 16 points in the first half marked a season low for the Panthers. ... The Cavaliers have held five opponents under 50 points this season. ... Northern Iowa had its streak of 91 consecutive games making at least three 3-pointers snapped.
