51: Donnavan Kirk scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead
the Hurricanes to a road win over the Tigers.
Rion Brown added 13 points while
Garrius Adams had 12 points and seven rebounds for Miami
(6-5), which shot 57.1 percent from the field. Manu Lecomte had 10
points off the bench, as the Hurricanes played just seven men.
Jeremiah Hill came off the bench
to hit 4-of-9 3-pointers and finish with a team-high 14 points for
Savannah State (2-10). No other player scored in double figures for
the Tigers, who shot 5-of-20 from 3-point range.
The Tigers were up 7-4 early
before the Hurricanes went on a 17-5 run to take an nine-point
advantage with under nine minutes to go in the half. Miami upped the
lead to 17 by halftime, shooting 53.8 percent from the field in the
first 20 minutes, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range.
The Hurricanes led by as many as
22 midway through the second half before Savannah State had a 10-0
run to get back into the game. But the Tigers couldn't get any
closer, as Miami won going away.
