North Carolina State 65, Tennessee 58: T.J. Warren scored 10 of his 21 points down the stretch and grabbed 11 rebounds as the visiting Wolfpack picked up their sixth straight win against the cold-shooting Volunteers.

Anthony Barber contributed 12 points and Desmond Lee had 10 for North Carolina State (8-2), which limited Tennessee to a 29.4 percent mark from the floor. Lennard Freeman scored all eight of his points in the first half and yanked down nine rebounds.

Jordan McRae led Tennessee (6-4) with 21 points but needed 22 shots to reach that mark. Jeronne Maymon had 17 points and 16 rebounds, and Jarnell Stokes added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Warren scored 25 seconds in to ignite a game-opening 6-0 run and had a layup and a 3-pointer during a 7-0 burst that helped the Wolfpack establish a 37-20 halftime lead. Tennessee missed all nine of its 3-point tries in the first half and was off on its first two long-range attempts in the second before McRae buried two straight in less than a minute to pull his team within 42-34.

The Wolfpack had one field goal in a span of more than six minutes as the Volunteers pulled within five points on a Darius Thompson layup with eight minutes to go. Warren ended the drought with a fast-break dunk to make it 50-43 and added a jumper, a layup and four free throws in the final three-plus minutes to help North Carolina State stay comfortably ahead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wolfpack head coach Mark Gottfried improved to 10-5 all-time against the Volunteers after going 6-1 against them as a player for Alabama. ... Tennessee, which entered 11th in the nation with 15.4 offensive rebounds per game, had 20 in this one. ... N.C. State was 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, while the Volunteers finished 3-for-24.
