No. 8 Duke 85, Gardner-Webb 66: Jabari Parker led the way with 21 points and Andre Dawkins added a season-high 18 off the bench as the Blue Devils ran away from the visiting Runnin’ Bulldogs.

Quinn Cook collected 16 points and nine assists and Rodney Hood scored 15 as Duke (8-2) won its 108th consecutive home game over a non-conference foe. Amile Jefferson grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench to help the Blue Devils to a 37-22 advantage on the glass.

Jerome Hill recorded 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting and nine rebounds for Gardner-Webb (6-6), which shot 54 percent from the field but could not compete on the glass or at the free-throw line. Donta Harper added 13 points and Naji Hibbert chipped in 12 for the Runnin’ Bulldogs.

Dawkins nailed a pair of 3-pointers and totaled eight points during an 18-2 burst in the first half that put Duke in control 35-18. Hood’s transition layup to close the period gave the Blue Devils a 53-39 lead at the break.

Dawkins found Parker for a dunk with 12:30 left to stretch it to 70-49 and Parker’s free throws less than two minutes later pushed the lead to 23 points. Gardner-Webb got within 16 points but Duke easily closed it out.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Blue Devils went 20-for-28 at the free-throw line while the Runnin’ Bulldogs made 7-of-12 opportunities. … Duke has a showdown coming up with UCLA at Madison Square Garden in New York on Thursday. … Gardner-Webb dropped to 1-5 on the road.
