Central Florida 79, Howard 64: Kasey Wilson totaled 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the host Knights over the Bison.

Calvin Newell added 19 points, including four 3-pointers, ripped away five steals and dished out four assists for Central Florida (5-3), which hit a season-high 14 3-pointers on 31 attempts. Daiquan Walker scored all 10 of his points off the bench in the final 7:14 to help the Knights close out the game.

Prince Okoroh led the offense for Howard (2-10), scoring 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds. Solomon Mangham pitched in with 16 points for the Bison, who have dropped 10 in a row and 16 of their last 19 games dating to last season.

Howard finished the first half on a 12-5 run take a 32-30 lead into halftime. The Bison hadn't led at the break since their last win on Nov. 10 against Gwynedd-Mercy College, but Mangham and Okoroh scored eight points apiece to stake Howard to the advantage at intermission.

Central Florida battled back early in the final 20 minutes, jumping ahead 37-35 on a 3-pointer from Newell, but the Bison wouldn't go away just yet, staying within 48-47 near the midway point of the second half. The Knights pulled away down the stretch, sparked by Walker's late surge, and pushed the lead to as many as 19.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Central Florida F Tristan Spurlock, who came into the game averaging 12.9 points and led all scorers with 15 points in the Knights' 62-45 win over Howard last season, finished with just eight on 3-of-7 shooting after getting shut out in the first half. ... Newell has reached double figures in all eight games this season and in 10 of his last 11 dating to last season. ... Central Florida entered play connecting at a 53.3 percent clip on free throws - ahead of only Nicholls State nationally - and shot 13-of-23 from the line.
