George Washington 77, Maryland 75: Maurice Creek sank a game-winning jumper with 0.6 seconds left as the Colonials knocked off the Terrapins at the BB&T Classic at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C.

Creek finished with 25 points to lead George Washington (8-1). Kethan Savage added 14 points and four steals, Joe McDonald added 13 points, nine assists and eight rebounds while Isaiah Armwood finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Colonials.

Dez Wells scored 16 points to lead Maryland (5-4). Jake Layman added 13 points and Evan Smotrycz finished with 11, while each contributed six rebounds.

The Terps' Roddy Peters made two free throws with 20 seconds remaining to knot the score at 75. Creek, who played three injury-plagued years at Indiana, then hit the game-winning jumper from just inside the arc, under pressure from Nick Faust, to win the game.

Creek’s 3-pointer with 9:32 remaining in the first half gave George Washington a 24-12 lead and the Colonials maintained a 41-29 lead at the break. Layman converted a three-point play and Wells made a layup to get the Terrapins within seven with just under 12 minutes remaining and their comeback continued.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Faust, who was third on the team in scoring last season (9.4) while shooting 35.2 percent from 3-point range, shot 1-for-5 from beyond the arc to increase his percentage to 18.9 on the season. … The Colonials committed eight of their 19 turnovers in the final 4:11. … Maryland had seven assists compared to 18 turnovers.
