Nebraska 60, Miami (Fla.) 49: Terran Petteway scored all 14 of his points in the second half and Walter Pitchford added 13 as the host Cornhuskers defeated the Hurricanes in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.

Leslee Smith recorded seven points and 10 rebounds while Shavon Shields added nine points and seven boards as Nebraska (6-2) won its third straight. Pitchford, a 6-10 transfer from Florida, was 3-of-6 from 3-point range and the Cornhuskers held Miami to 32 percent shooting from the field to improve to 5-0 at home.

Rion Brown led the way with a career-high 25 points, including five 3-pointers, for Miami (5-4). The Hurricanes made only one of 12 from behind the 3-point arc in the first half and finished 7-of-25.

Nebraska scored 11 of the final 13 points in the first half, capped by two straight 3-pointers by Ray Gallegos, to take a 22-13 lead at intermission. The Hurricanes made only 6-of-25 from the field and turned the ball over seven times in the opening 20 minutes.

The Cornhuskers pushed their lead to 16 before Miami scored the next 11 points – including two 3-pointers by Brown – to pull within 36-31 with 7:48 left. Pitchford followed with a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws as Nebraska re-established a 10-point cushion and the Hurricanes could get no closer than seven the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nebraska finished with 10 steals, led by Tai Webster’s four. … Miami senior G Garrius Adams, averaging 11.8 points, went 0-of-6 from the field and managed only two made free throws. … Nebraska has won four of the five meetings with the Hurricanes.
