George Washington 93, Rutgers 87: Isaiah Armwood recorded 20 points and nine rebounds as the Colonials earned a hard-fought victory over the visiting Scarlet Knights.

Joe McDonald had just six points, but notched nine rebounds, nine assists and three steals for the Colonials (7-1). Kethan Savage chipped in with 18 points, five assists and four boards, Maurice Creek scored 18 points and Nemanja Mikic hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points for George Washington.

Myles Mack scored 26 points and drained 5-of-7 from 3-point range for the Scarlet Knights (4-5). Jerome Seagears had 23 points and was also 5-of-7 from behind the arc and Kadeem Mack managed 12 points in his return from a one-game absence.

The Scarlet Knights started 5-of-7 from the field and led 11-6 at the first media timeout behind seven points from Mack, then made 7-of-9 to go up 29-23 with 8:18 remaining. The Colonials picked up the defensive pressure, holding Rutgers without a point for nearly six minutes in taking a 31-29 advantage before going into halftime up 38-36 thanks to seven late points from Savage.

Armwood scored six quick points as the Colonials led by 10 early in the second half, but Mack hit a trey and Seagears scored seven straight points to bring Rutgers within four with 12:46 remaining. It stayed a two-score game until the final four minutes when the Colonials used an 8-2 run to lead by nine before holding on for the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Colonials held a 20-11 edge in rebounding, including 11-1 on the offensive end, in the first half. ... Rutgers was 5-of-11 from 3-point territory in the first half. ... Kevin Larsen scored 11 points for the Colonials, who came up with seven steals in beating the Scarlet Knights for the first time since 1995.
