Virginia Tech 81, Radford 56: Adam Smith scored a season-high 28 points and dished out five assists as the Hokies pulled away from the visiting Highlanders.

Jarell Eddie recorded his third straight double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Virginia Tech (5-3), which had a 41-29 edge on the boards. C.J. Barksdale also registered a double-double for the Hokies with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Marshall Wood added 10 points.

Javonte Green led the way with 15 points for Radford (4-2), which saw its four-game win streak come to an end. R.J. Price contributed 11 points for the Highlanders, who went 4-of-22 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Devin Wilson drained a 3-pointer to ignite the run and Eddie capped it with a three-point play as Virginia Tech scored 18 straight to take a 23-5 lead almost seven minutes in. Smith finished with 17 points and Barksdale had 10 in the opening 20 minutes as the Hokies held a 48-28 advantage at intermission.

Virginia Tech pushed the lead as high as 23 in the second half before Price helped the Highlanders pull within 62-48 midway through. The Hokies answered with six straight, highlighted by a 3-pointer by Eddie, and they were on their way to a second straight win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Virginia Tech captain Ben Emelogu, the team’s second-leading scorer, missed his second straight game due to concussion symptoms. … Radford is 0-24 all-time against ACC opponents, but earned one victory against Virginia Tech in 1999 when it was a member of the Big East. The Highlanders are 1-6 overall against Hokies. … Virginia Tech, who came in leading the ACC in 3-point shooting at 45.5 percent, drained 7-of-15 against Radford.
