Virginia Tech 75, Furman 54: Jarell Eddie scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Hokies beat the visiting Paladins in the first meeting between the two schools since 1965.

Marshall Wood added 13 points for Virginia Tech (4-3), which has made 10 or more 3-pointers in four straight games. Will Johnston provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and Devin Wilson dished out 11 assists for the Hokies, who snapped a two-game losing skid.

Stephen Croone led the way with 27 points for Furman (2-3), which fell to 12-14 all-time against Virginia Tech. Larry Wideman chipped in with 13 points while William Gates Jr. added 12 for the Paladins.

Eddie scored five early points as Virginia Tech raced out to an 18-3 lead after Furman went more than 10 minutes without a field goal. Croone, who led all scorers with 13 first-half points, cut the deficit to 11 with just over a minute left before the Hokies took a 31-17 edge into the break.

Virginia Tech extended its advantage to 21 after Adam Smith's 3-pointer with under 14 minutes left in the second half. The Paladins made things interesting with a 14-2 run to close to within 48-39 before the Hokies pulled away in the final five minutes.
