Virginia 69, Hampton 40: Joe Harris scored 20 points on 7-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range, to lead the Cavaliers to the easy home victory over the Pirates.

Justin Anderson added 12 points for Virginia (5-1), which shot 51.1 percent from the field and 8-of-12 from 3-point range. The Cavaliers also dominated the backboards, winning the rebound battle 42-21.

Dwight Meikle led Hampton (2-4) with 12 points and six blocked shots, while Emmanuel Okoroba added eight points. The Pirates were 2-of-14 from the 3-point line, with their first make from beyond the arc coming in the last three minutes of the contest.

The game was close early on, with the Pirates tying the game at 16 with 9:59 to play in the first half on Dionte Adams' jumper. But the Cavaliers went on a closing 24-3 run, powered by 12 points by Harris, to take a 40-19 halftime advantage.

It was more of the same in the second half, with Hampton failing to score until Ke'Ron Brown made a free throw with just over 16 minutes to play. By that point, the lead had already ballooned to 30 and it wouldn't get under that again until the closing minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hampton's 19 first-half points were a season low in any half for the Pirates. … Virginia held the Pirates' leading scorer, Du'Vaughn Maxwell (15.6 ppg), to two points on 1-of-4 shooting from the field. … The Cavaliers now lead the all-time series 7-0.
