Texas A&M 79, Sam Houston State 62: Antwan Space scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds and the Aggies' defense shut down one of the hottest offenses in the nation in a convincing home victory.

The Bearkats (4-1) entered the game ranked in the top 10 in the country in points, rebounds, assists and field-goal percentage, but their offense had no answers against the Aggies' hard-nosed defense. Sam Houston State shot only 37.7 percent from the field, including 2-of-12 from 3-point range, while managing only seven assists and getting outrebounded 41-29.

Fabyon Harris chipped in 10 points for Texas A&M (5-0), which overcame 19-of-30 free-throw shooting and 17 turnovers. Kourtney Roberson, the Aggies' leading scorer at 16.5 points per game, was limited to seven points in this one.

Harris made a pair of 3-pointers late in the first half and led the Aggies with eight points at halftime. Texas A&M held a 34-25 lead at intermission and scored nine of the first 11 points of the second half, including five points by Alex Caruso.

Holding a 45-32 advantage, the Aggies scored 13 straight points to end any potential drama. Roberson had four points, including a dunk, during the decisive surge.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Eleven different players scored for Sam Houston State, led by Kaheem Ransom's 13 points. ... No player on the Aggies attempted more than seven shots from the field. Texas A&M G Jamal Jones was 2-of-7 off the bench. ... Caruso and Aggies G Jordan Green chipped in nine points apiece.
