Mississippi State 94, Mississippi Valley State 72: Gavin Ware led the way with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting as the Bulldogs took down the visiting Delta Devils.

Colin Borchert added 14 points and Roquez Johnson scored 12 for Mississippi State (3-0), which picked up its third straight double-digit victory. The Bulldogs had seven players score at least eight points.

DeAngelo Priar had 19 points to lead Mississippi Valley State (0-3). Anthony McDonald added 12 points while James Currington chipped in 10.

Ware scored seven points in the first three minutes and Mississippi State never trailed. Fred Thomas’ three-point play capped a 9-4 run to close the first half and sent the Bulldogs into the break with a 44-29 advantage.

The Delta Devils used a 6-0 burst to pull back within single digits at 52-43 with 15:14 left, but Mississippi State took off on a 12-4 spurt to grab the momentum back. Ware scored seven straight points for the Bulldogs to help push the lead back to 15 points with 7:42 left and Mississippi Valley State could not get back into the game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Delta Devils have played two straight SEC teams and will get another when they travel to Mississippi on Friday. … Mississippi State improved to 23-3 all-time against SWAC opponents, including 2-0 this season. … The Bulldogs were missing PG I.J. Ready, who is out two-to-four weeks with a hamstring injury.
