LSU 81, New Orleans 54: Andre Stringer scored a game-high 19 points, including 18 in the second half, as the host Tigers ran away from the Privateers in the second half.

Freshman Jordan Mickey had a career-high 16 points and 11 rebounds while Shavon Coleman added 14 points for LSU (2-1). The Tigers never trailed despite shooting only 39.2 percent from the floor and going 5-for-23 on 3-pointers.

Cory Dixon's 18 points and eight rebounds led New Orleans (1-1), which shot 31.3 percent from the floor. Matt Derenbecker finished with eight points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Privateers, who were outrebounded, 56-38.

The Tigers led 32-28 at halftime, but opened the second half with a 12-3 run — capped by a pair of Stringer 3-pointers — to take a 44-31 lead. The Privateers cut the deficit to within eight on several occasions, but could get no closer, as LSU went on another 12-2 burst for a 69-48 lead with 5:16 left to seal it.

LSU never led by more than nine points in a cold first half as New Orleans shot 33.3 percent from the floor while LSU only shot 29.4 percent, but hit on a trio of 3-pointers while the Privateers went 0-for-7. Johnny O'Bryant III, who had 11 rebounds, scored all nine of his points in the first half — with Mickey matching him — as the two combined for 14 rebounds in the half to double Dixon's nine points and seven rebounds for the Privateers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mickey posted his third straight double-double to begin his LSU career. ... New Orleans had nine shots blocked. ... The Tigers' top-rated freshman Jarell Martin (ankle) did not dress, but he is hopeful of returning Friday night against Southeastern Louisiana.
