Texas 89, Houston Baptist 61: Jonathan Holmes had a team-high 15 points and sparked the host Longhorns to a pair of withering scoring runs to open each half in a blowout of the Huskies.

Javan Felix had 14 points and three 3-pointers for Texas while Connor Lammert followed with a season-high 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Holmes added six boards for the Longhorns, who outrebounded Houston Baptist 51-32 and are 4-0 for the first time since 2009.

Rob Lewis' 13 points led the Huskies (1-1), but was held to only one point in the second half, when Houston Baptist shot 36 percent from the floor. Cody Joyce added 10 points for the Huskies, which finished with five 3-pointers while Texas made 11.

After needing second-half comebacks in their three previous wins, the Longhorns opened by taking a 17-3 lead behind eight points from Holmes after Joyce's game-opening jumper had given Houston Baptist its only lead of the night. The Huskies pulled within 29-18, but Texas hit 7-of-15 of its 3-point attempts in the first half - including back-to-back treys by Lammert - to lead at halftime 44-31.

The Longhorns went on another opening run in the second half as Holmes notched the first seven points of an 11-1 spurt to make it 55-32 with 15:34 left. Houston Baptist hit on only 3-of-12 field goals attempts midway through the half to trail 65-41 and Texas rolled from there, finishing the game with five first-year players on the floor as 11 of 13 Longhorns scored.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Longhorns freshman G Kendal Yancy had seven points in his first college start. ... Texas' 44 points in the first half were its most since Dec. 19, 2012 against North Carolina (46). ... The Longhorns had 11 blocked shots with three apiece by Holmes, Cameron Ridley and Lammert.
