St. John's 73, Wagner 57: D'Angelo Harrison scored 25 points in a stellar all-around performance as the Red Storm subdued the visiting Seahawks.

Harrison made all 11 of his free throws and notched five rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Red Storm (1-1). Jakarr Sampson had 13 points and seven rebounds while Chris Obekpa, who was second in the nation last year with 4.1 blocks per game, had four blocks and eight rebounds.

Latif Rivers led the Seahawks (1-2) with 18 points. Jay Harris made four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points while Kenneth Ortiz had 10 points and five boards.

The Seahawks used a 7-0 run in the first four minutes of the second half to claw their way to within nine points at 40-31 and later trailed 60-54 after a pair of 3-pointers by Harris, but they couldn't sustain the rally as the Red Storm made their free throws. St. John's finished 29-of-36 from the foul line, including a 6-of-6 effort by Orlando Sanchez.

The Red Storm started fast thanks to 10 early points from Harrison, whose steal and layup made it 16-8 just 7:17 into the first half. A jumper by Phil Greene IV about four minutes later capped a 12-0 surge that upped the lead to 24-8, but the Seahawks scored seven of the final 10 points to go into the half down 36-22.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Seahawks were 8-of-31 in the first half and committed eight turnovers. ... Obekpa had five rebounds and three blocks in the first half. ... The Red Storm missed their first five shots and turned the ball over four times in the opening four minutes of the second half.
