BYU 112, Stanford 103: Tyler Haws scored 31 points and Matt Carlino added 26 as the visiting Cougars pulled away in the second half to win the opening game of ESPN’s Tip-Off Marathon.

Kyle Collinsworth added 14 points, seven rebounds and a career-high nine assists for BYU (2-0), which led 72-64 with 12:22 remaining before Carlino's 3-pointer sparked a 9-0 run. Haws was 10-of-18 from the field with eight rebounds for the Cougars, who were 8-of-15 from 3-point range.

Chasson Randle led Stanford (1-1) with a career-high 33 points and Dwight Powell collected 28 points and seven rebounds. Anthony Brown added 16 points for the Cardinal, who recorded their final lead at 11-8 on Randle's 3-pointer three minutes into the game.

Randle scored at the buzzer to cut the deficit to 54-46 at the half before BYU took control midway through the second half. Haws, who led the West Coast Conference in scoring last season, drilled a 3-pointer with 8:35 remaining to put the Cougars ahead 88-70.

Stanford used a 16-5 run to cut the lead to nine points with 2:21 remaining, but BYU answered with four straight points to seal the victory. The Cougars shot 53.5 percent from the field but were 28-of-43 from the foul line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nate Austin and Eric Mika chipped in 12 points apiece for BYU, which was playing its first game at Stanford since 1969. … The game marked the first time the Cougars scored more than 100 points against an opponent currently in the Pac-12 since Dec. 1, 1992, when they beat Arizona State 108-98. … John Gage had 12 points for Stanford, which scored more than 100 points for the first time since Jan. 7, 2012 against Oregon State.
