St. Francis (N.Y.) 66, Miami (Fla.) 62 (OT): Freshman Wayne Martin registered a game-high 17 points and Jalen Cannon scored the go-ahead basket in overtime as the visiting Terriers shocked the Hurricanes in the season opener for both teams.

Cannon, who finished with 14 points, made a nifty move in low to put St. Francis ahead for good 62-60 with 1:05 left in the extra period. Miami trimmed the lead to 64-62 on a Garrius Adams basket and stole the ball, but Davon Reed’s 3-pointer rimmed out in the final seconds.

Donnavan Kirk led the way with 16 points and Adams had 15 for the Hurricanes, who missed all 15 of their 3-point attempts. Rion Brown added 11 points for Miami, which won a school-record 29 games in 2012-13.

Both teams shot less than 30 percent from the field in the opening half, but St. Francis made 6-of-16 from beyond the 3-point arc to rally from a seven-point deficit for a 27-26 lead at intermission. Cannon scored 10 points in the first 20 minutes for the Terriers and Kirk countered with nine for the Hurricanes.

Amdy Fall registered six points during an 8-0 run that gave St. Francis a seven-point lead early in the second half and the Terriers led 47-40 with 7:40 left. The Hurricanes answered with a 10-2 run to take the lead and Adams’s twisting layup tied the game at 56-56 with 2.9 seconds left in regulation.
