Rutgers 92, Florida A&M 84: Junior forward Kadeem Jack scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Scarlet Knights past the visiting Rattlers in Eddie Jordan's college head coaching debut.

Forward J.J. Moore, a transfer from Pittsburgh, scored 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds while junior point guard Myles Mack added 19 points and six steals for Rutgers (1-0), which was playing its first game since former coach Mike Rice was fired in April after practice videos were released revealing a pattern of physical and verbal abuse toward his players.

Senior guard Muhammad Abdul-Aleem scored 16 points to lead Florida A&M (0-1), which was also playing its first game for a new head coach, former NBA center Clemon Johnson. Jamari Bradshaw added 12 points.

Jack had 12 points and six rebounds in the opening 20 minutes as the Scarlet Knights, who led by as many as 10 points, built a 46-41 halftime lead. The Rattlers kept close thanks to a strong effort by their bench, which outscored Rutgers 30-9 in the first half.

But Rutgers took control of the game with a 23-10 spurt that featured 14 points by Jack to open the second half. Florida A&M never got closer than six points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rutgers announced before the game that F Junior Etou, a freshman from the Republic of Congo who played at Bishop O'Connell High School in northern Virginia, will be ineligible to play the first six games of the season after the NCAA ruled he accepted impermissible benefits from a third party from overseas. ... Scarlet Knights swingman Kevin Okoro, a transfer from Iowa State, sat out the game after tweaking his left knee in practice Thursday. ... Rutgers improved to 12-0 all-time against current members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
